Is that a new record? It was opened and half eaten before that too. I estimate it’s at least 3.5 years since it was opened. When I found it again recently and started eating it it was hard and tiny, slightly lighter coloured bumps all over it. Once I stirred it round it became creamy again. Every now and again I find a little hard piece in my mouth. I’ve been having bad gas since I started eating it but that could be unrelated. I’m probably an idiot… oh well I won’t die haha… 😐

Comment on How Long Does Almond Milk Last and How to Tell If It’s Bad by Zoe https://www.doesitgobad.com/does-almond-milk-go-bad/#comment-39 Sun, 18 Sep 2016 18:37:18 +0000 http://www.doesitgobad.com/?p=133#comment-39 I have a tetra box of Natura Unsweetened Almond milk, kept in the pantry. Best before date is about 1.5 months ago. I tasted the milk, it was fine, but unflavourful. There were little white particles that appeared after I shook the contents. It did not smell spoiled.

I needed a bit extra for an overnight recipe for groats, but decided to err on the side of caution and avoid ‘food poisoning’.

Will keep the milk for usage myself, but not to share with my children.

Comment on How Long Does Almond Milk Last and How to Tell If It’s Bad by Sharon Snyder https://www.doesitgobad.com/does-almond-milk-go-bad/#comment-37 Sun, 18 Sep 2016 18:36:45 +0000 http://www.doesitgobad.com/?p=133#comment-37 I drink Almond milk almost everyday. Especially in my morning smoothies. It will go bad after opening. Twice now, I have gone several days without my regular toast and smoothies breakfast, to come back to it and not checked the almond milk for freshness. Once it is opened be very, very careful! The first time it only lasted about four hours, but I had nothing left in my stomach when it was over. The second time was much, much worse. Started throwing up in just a couple of hours and continued that for over 2 hours.n it included clammy skin, severe cramping and nausea. Then it got worse! The clammy skin turned into dripping sweat, soaking my clothes and although the throwing up slowed, diarrhea started and was uncontrollable. I lost any strength I had by then and thank goodness my husband was home or I would still be on the bathroom floor. He was able to put some nausea medicine under my tongue and I was able to finally get under contol. Sorry to be so graphic but those who drink alternative milk need to pay attention after it is open! It does go bad and FOOD POISONING is real!

Comment on Does Gatorade Go Bad? by Georgia https://www.doesitgobad.com/does-gatorade-go-bad/#comment-28 Sun, 18 Sep 2016 18:34:15 +0000 http://www.doesitgobad.com/?p=742#comment-28 I leave a Gatorade in my bag just in case I get thirsty throughout the day and sometimes I’ll accidentally leave it in there for awhile. Well the other day I was about to drink some of my Gatorade that has been in there for probably 1-2 months and I looked at it and there were little green balls floating around, there was a bunch of them!! I immediately threw it away. I’m pretty sure it was mold but I didn’t inspect it too much.

Comment on Does Vinegar Go Bad? by Kathleen Brooks https://www.doesitgobad.com/does-vinegar-go-bad/#comment-14 Tue, 14 Oct 2014 15:43:56 +0000 http://www.doesitgobad.com/?p=54#comment-14 I had a bottle of vinegar that was about 6 months old that had been stored in a dark cupboard.  I went to use it and when I opened it it had a real funky smell and then when looking at it more closely noted that there was a layer of some ort of black stuff on the top.  I poured it down the sink and the black stuff remained until the end when it came out it was a jelly like substance that had a horrible smell.  This was my first time ever experiencing this with vinegar.

Comment on Does Tea Go Bad? Shelf Life, Storage, and Expiration of Tea by Zoe https://www.doesitgobad.com/does-tea-go-bad/#comment-8 Tue, 14 Jan 2014 18:42:53 +0000 http://www.doesitgobad.com/?p=147#comment-8 I have had some types of tea go bad before. While this article is true for most teas, I’d like to point out that Japanese matcha powder tea DOES go bad and needs to be refrigerated. I found this out the hard way because I kept it like any other tea. I don’t want anyone else to share this fate. You can tell matcha is going bad when it starts to lose its color. It starts out bright green. If it’s a more brownish green it’s probably gone bad. Still safe to drink but it tastes horrible.

Comment on Does Vinegar Go Bad? by Roxanne https://www.doesitgobad.com/does-vinegar-go-bad/#comment-4 Tue, 26 Nov 2013 18:17:07 +0000 http://www.doesitgobad.com/?p=54#comment-4 Last night, I was making hamburger BBQ for my grandchildren. I dumped all the ingrediants in the pan, like I have hundreds of times. I gave it a good stir and then did a “taste test.” Something didn’t taste right. I looked in the vinegar bottle and it said it was good for another year. So I did another taste test. After gagging for a couple of minutes, I opened up the vinegar bottle, which was only purchased around six months ago, and smelled it. It was horrible. My daughter was there and also smelled it. She agreed with me that the vinegar was bad. The bottle got dumped and the BBQ went in the trash. Bad night!
